Curious George is at it again! He really is trying to be helpful, but being the monkey that he is...
The app has different modes for your child's learning experience. One can have the story read to them, with highlighted vocabulary words on every page. These sound-out and show animation in the illustration. While this is fun in itself, it also gives your child the connection between the word and the activity.
Going into the “Read & Talk” mode allows you to read the story yourself. On the bottom of the page questions are provided to prompt conversations about what was just read, allowing the child to originate communication about the story. In the settings, the app allows you to record your own voice for the highlighted words. During this mode, the words will be announced using the recording you have made.
In addition, there is a “Story Theater” mode where the child can create their own story with provided pages. The animated pictures, provided in the story, are available to add to the pages. For example, you can drag a campfire anywhere on the page and it makes the sound of a fire. You can just tap on the picture and the app adds it for you. This is perfect for developing storytelling and communication. Plus, it's a whole lot of fun!
There are 3 levels in the app. Each level provides additional highlighted words.
This app was created as part of the iRead With program, which has been created for reading readiness, literacy, oral language and comprehension skills, to name just a few.
