This app is awesome for tracking exoplanets around the Milky Way. Of course, if you don't know what an exoplanet is, that might be an issue. An exoplanet is a planet that's not in our solar system.

This app has a database of all the exoplanets currently discovered, and is updated with new discoveries whenever they occur. You will find withen it such things as: the host star of each planet, extensive information on each, their orbits and a whole lot more!

The Milkyway in which these planets are nestled is shown in 3D. In addition, there is a "point and find feature" that shows you planets in the zone you have your device directed towards. The zoom feature gives you a closer look.

The app was developed by and is maintained by a professional astronomer.

Additional in-app purchasing available.
Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

  • Interactive visualisations and animations.
  • Physical properties of all detected exoplanets and their host stars, updated on a daily basis.
  • Stunning 3D model of our Milky Way showing the location of all known exoplanets. You can zoom into any planetary system, explore how the night sky and the constellations look from the surface of other planets, or zoom out and see other local galaxies and galaxy clusters as well as the cosmic microwave background.
  • Visualizations of exoplanet orbits and the habitable zone.
  • Push notifications are sent out whenever a new planet is discovered.
  • Augmented reality sky map: point the phone towards the sky to find an exoplanet!
  • Interactive multi-touch correlation plots.
  • Extensive background information on exoplanets and detection methods.
  • Full support of planets in binary, triple, quadruple systems and orphan planets.
