First of all, I have to say that this is one of the most beautifully illustrated and animated apps I have come across. I would have probably bought the book (pre-app days) based on this alone. In addition, the book has beautifully scored music and narration, allowing for one to record their own voice as well.
Based on the book and from the Maurice's Valises, of which Maurice, a spunky mouse goes on adventures. This one brings him to some railroad tracks where he comes across and elephant and his anteater friend, left in the snow in a railroad car. Hearing the tale of his new found friends, he decides to help them escape, so they can return back to India. The story ends with a moral of the importance of helping others. Good moral.
Although there are certain words within the story that allow you to tap on them and learn their meaning, I did find that it would be a good idea to go through the story, a time or two, with your child and ensure they have a good understanding of many of the other undefined words. Doing this will allow them to easily go through the book with full understanding. I happen to be a stickler on ensuring children have the full understanding of words they come across, due to the fact that they will bounce away from a subject in which they have unclear meanings of words.
Along your reading way, find the hidden clues for a future treasure hunt! And, did I mention this app is free? I can't believe this!
Compatible with the iPad.
