Spelling Assistant is a perfect app for helping kids drill their spelling. It is very simple to use, with a clean, uncluttered look.
Upon opening the app the user is prompted to set up their own personal profile. Spelling Assistant allows for multiple users. You then are taken to a page where you create your own personal lists.
Using a keyboard, you simply type in the words. Once this is done, tap on the speaker and record them. I love this feature. Since you are doing the recording, you can just clearly state the word or break it down phonically. After your list (or lists) is complete, there is a choice of 3 games to play.
Letter Jumble calls out each word you have recorded from a specific list and gives you a choice of letters on bottom of the screen. Simply tap the letters to spell the word and tap “submit”. The speaker icon can be tapped as many times as needed if you wish to hear it again.
Multiple Choice calls out the word as well while showing your three choices. Simply tap the word you feel is correct. Once again you can listen to the word again as much as needed.
Keyboard says the word and shows it briefly. You then use the keyboard to spell the word. Once again you can listen to the word as much as need be.
Spelling Test is as above with just each word sounded out and a keyboard to spell it out.
Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
