WWF Explore is a delightful iPad app surrounding by a story about a group of kids and their teacher going on an educational adventure to different regions in the world. The app allows you to explore Africa and China for free. The Arctic, Amazon and Himalayas can be viewed with an in-app purchase of $0.99 each.
The region and expedition chosen reads like a story. Sections of the words are highlighted as the story unfolds. You can read and listen, or turn off the narration easily on any page. Each page in the story has different animals that you can find out more information on. The information is shown like a journal entry, with a map of where you would find it, a photo, threat level of the species, etc. In addition, if you tap on the animal twice, a high-definition picture is sent to your very own picture book. Collect them all and you receive a big congratulations!
I have to say that I learned quite a bit viewing the app and had a fun learning experience. The two free regions are quite extensive, especially for being free. Definitely worth the download and worth supporting WWF, should you do any of the in-app purchasing.
Compatible with iPad.
